1 year anniversary!!

thanks to everyone who still reads this... this weekend I hit the one year anniversary of this blog. I started it about 9 months after beginning my big weight loss push, in march of 2009, when I weighed 322. As of last night, I weigh 276. some months have not seen any weight loss, and some have seen a pound or two of gain. but overall we're headed in the right direction, thanks to God. lately been adding regular exercise back into the routine, hopefully that will continue. it seems to be helping, especially with the hypoglycemia. hope everyone has a blessed holiday season. I'm looking forward to 2011.

Starvation Mode

So this morning I learned something very interesting about weight loss and how my body reacts to certain things. For the last two days, I have been experiencing some very odd physical symptoms as a result of eating so little. I had two days in a row with about 1200 calories or less, and my body went into Starvation Mode. I have lost about 6 pounds since Wednesday morning, which is probably good, but I've also had some crazzzzy gastrointestinal issues, not been able to sleep very well, some weakness and shakiness, and especially, hypothermic symptoms. Throughout the day, especially when indoors, I have been inexplicably cold and shivering violently for minutes at a time. Wednesday night I laid awake in bed for about two hours unable to sleep because I couldn't stop shivering. And now, the weirdest thing is that I am getting ravenously hungry, but when I go to eat, I don't feel like eating. I am literally forcing myself to eat anything. I really need to balance this thing out again, hahaha.

today i weighed 278. the last time i was this small was in the late summer of 2005, after getting back from Costa Rica. in march 2009 i weighed 322, so that's down 44 pounds in 14 months, basically. still have another 50-60 or so to go, at least, but God is good and has gotten me this far. thanks to everyone for your support and prayers, and also to God without whom this would have been a very futile attempt.
