  1. Earlier you posted a fear of eating at night. While this is mostly cultural (countries with less of a problem with obesity than USA have 11pm dinners), you'd be doing yourself a favor by eating more earlier in the day. Baby carrots and granola* won't cut it. Get good sources of protein like Kristian said.

The artificial sweeteners in your diet drinks may be inciting a hunger response in your body. Studies are posted online showing that dieters who drink diet drinks sometimes consume more calories per day than they would even drinking regular sodas (but especially more than water).

*About granola (and Lipton Green Tea that you enjoy): be skeptical of "healthy" foods. In general it's best to get food looking the most like its source: fruits are better whole, oats are better grains than processed breads and cereals/granola, and meats are better in fillets and the like. Foods like this can usually be found most on the outer edges of supermarkets.

Good job keeping up with this.

  2. Oh, but pretzels probably aren't doing you any favors at night. Try peanut butter on celery, banana, or apple.

  3. just fyi, i am off of that green tea stuff.

what artificial sweeteners specifically might cause the hunger spikes?

I have no problem being off diet soda. i will try it starting now. what juices do you prefer? i get bored with just water and milk.

  4. I know a great deal about juices :) hehe. Justin always needs to have juice in the house, as he feel the same as you about just water and milk... His favorite juice is Ocean Spray Cranberry 100% Juice. Any combination of some other juice and cranberry is good also. From what I've read, the key is to get something that is 100% juice and no additional sugar added. There are still a decent number of calories per serving, but health benefits as well.

OR you could buy a juicer. I think that would be fun-- then you could make your own juice of any kind!
